Mr. Weinshank has over 20 years of experience in global banking with an emphasis on global commodity trade finance in Latin America, China and the U.S. He served as the president of the Association of Trade & Forfaiting in the Americas (ATFA) from 2012-2015.
Mr. Weinshank is responsible for the development of Matrix Commodity Finance’s (MCF) trade finance platform. MCF leverages Matrix’s auction technology to create new and liquid markets for commodity trade receivables. He is actively involved in the origination, structuring and distribution of transactions via the MCF platform as well as providing advisory services for more complex commodity trade transactions.
Prior to joining the Matrix Global family of companies, Mr. Weinshank served as head of corporate banking at China Construction Bank New York Branch (CCB NY), where he was a member of the branch’s management committee and a primary architect of the branch’s lending strategy. He also advised CCB Head Office in Beijing on its Latin American entry strategy and facilitated client introduction to CCB senior executives.
His previous assignments were as the vice president of structured trade and commodity finance at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC), where he developed SMBC’s Americas commodity trade finance footprint and as vice president of specialized trade finance at Standard Bank, where he originated trade financing transactions with customers in the Americas and distributed forfaiting assets to investors.
Mr. Weinshank has an MBA with honors from the Thunderbird School of Global Management. He is bilingual in English and Spanish and remains an active member of ATFA and the International Energy Credit Association.
